The University of Phoenix is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a 187 percent enrollment increase at its New Orleans campus.
In 1995, eight graduate students enrolled. This year, more than 1,500 students studied at the New Orleans campus, which offers 14 bachelor's and master's degree programs.
The three University of Phoenix campuses in the state are New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
University officials attribute its success to the convenience of the university's online programs.
We talk to hundreds of people each week about their motivation to go back to school. Many of them have not found a way in which they can work, take care of their family and attend college, said Brent Fitch, vice president of the Louisiana campuses of University of Phoenix. Our curriculum combined with the infusion of technology make it convenient for a working adult to fulfill their dream of earning a degree.
