Mele-McCarthy Leaves ED

Joan Mele-McCarthy, senior policy advisor and special assistant to the assistant secretary of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) at the U.S. Department of Education, left the ED in July. An advocate for related services, Mele-McCarthy returned to the private sector as director of the Summit School in Edgewater, MD, a national blue ribbon school for children with learning differences and language acquisition issues.
