Tech Alliance Plans Event at College
Aug. 29–The Pueblo Technical Alliance will offer a daylong series of events as part of Colorado Tech Week, Oct. 17-21.
The local event will be held at Pueblo Community College on Oct. 19.
Tech Week will feature events around the state, discussing innovations in technology in government and business.
The local group met Friday morning to continue work on its plans for the daylong event here. The overall theme of the local sessions will be how government and related agencies use technology to interact with the public.
One possibility is a morning session by Michele Jacobus of Bechtel on how contractors can get qualified to bid for projects in the chemical weapons destruction project at the Pueblo Chemical Depot. With some funding available again, Bechtel and the Defense Department have begun awarding contracts for work at the depot. Local businesses are encouraged to bid on work but have to be able to provide information electronically.
Other government contractors may also be involved in the session.
The afternoon panel discussion will feature a number of local officials whose agencies have adopted new technologies to make their own operations more efficient and conduct business with the public.
A more complete agenda will be available in a few weeks.
