Oklahoma City University's Meinders School of Business plans to offer its master of business administration program in Ardmore starting in January.
OCU will award up to $1 million in scholarships for students to enroll in MBA classes in Ardmore.
Vince Orza, dean of the Meinders School of Business, made the surprise announcement during a presentation at the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce Fall Forum.
The school will award $10,000 scholarships to the first 100 MBA students who pay for their first nine weeks of classes before Dec. 15. Scholarships payments will be distributed evenly throughout the course of the 18-month program.
The program costs about $25,000 - significantly less than most programs of the same caliber, according to OCU officials. The average cost to earn an MBA in the United States is about $40,000 a year, according to Internet education source, mbaprograms.org.
The Ardmore program will include three course blocks totaling 36 hours - environmental, functional and capstone. Courses will be offered in an accelerated nine-week format with a one-week break between cycles. Classes will meet from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the state-of-the-art Ardmore Convention Center.
The program meets the same standards as the on-campus program.
