CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- "Project Recovery helps students recover credit from failed courses," said LEARN NC Executive Director Jim Barber. "Our summer school helped students who were failing last spring catch up and be successful this fall. We delivered over 600 courses to students in 10 school systems." Over 70% of students enrolling in summer school credit recovery courses earned credit toward graduation. Project Recovery's fall program offers courses including Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, U.S. History, and English I, so students don't have to wait until summer to recover credits and get back on track for graduation.
According to Dr. Ray Spain, Superintendent of Warren County Schools, "students were engaged and could really learn in this format." Hertford County students concurred, with statements such as, "These courses are challenging, but I feel like I am learning quite a bit." Northampton County's Dr. Elie Bracy indicated that "the program was a success overall. Once we got up to speed, the students and teachers felt that the program was a sound one." Pamlico County's Keith Eades indicated that "teachers felt this was the best program they have used online."
"Demand is growing for both credit recovery and online learning," said Nick Carlucci, Class.com Regional Vice President. "With this program, North Carolina schools can expand credit recovery options, individualize instruction, and keep students on track for graduation."
