57.4 percent of elementary, middle school students want a doctorate: survey
BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- A recent survey by the China Youth Research Center shows that 57.4 percent of elementary pupils and middle school students want to get an academic degree of doctorate, while 54.9 percent of the parents surveyed hope so.
Meanwhile, 91.3 percent of the students surveyed want a university diploma, while 91.7 of the parents share the same view.
As a result, 88.4 percent of the parents of elementary pupils and 50.9 percent of middle schoolchildren's parents ask their children to do more homework than their school teachers do.
The same survey finds that 63.5 percent of the elementary and middle school students demand trust by their parents, while 43.7 percent of them dislike their parents who always break their words.
The survey was conducted among students from two largest metropolises Beijing and Shanghai and four provinces of Guangdong, Yunnan, Gansu and Henan.
