Assembly begins Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week came to a head Oct. 21 at Bandini Street Elementary School with an assembly. The school's 430 students had signed a banner pledging they would stay away from drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
At the assembly, a police officer spoke about the dangers of the substances; student leaders also gave speeches.
The banner will remain on display in the school's auditorium.
HOLY TRINITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Graduates serve as student leaders
Three graduates of Holy Trinity School's 2002 class of eighth- graders are serving as school presidents at their respective high schools as juniors.
Lexi Manghera is the associate student body president at San Pedro High. Tania Bakar is president at Mary Star of the Sea High School. Nella McOsker is the president at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance.
About 70 students graduate from Holy Trinity each June. The Christian school offers classes from kindergarten through eighth- grade.
