ETS Partners With Wisconsin Education Association Council to Deliver Pathwise(R) Professional Development Programs to Wisconsin's School Leaders

Posted on: Thursday, 3 November 2005, 12:00 CST

ETS announced today an agreement with the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) to provide ETS's Pathwise(R) professional development workshops and materials to teachers, principals and other school leaders through WEAC's Professional Development Academy (PDA).

"WEAC and its Academy are pleased to partner with ETS in the delivery of high-quality professional development programs, because Wisconsin educators are dedicated to creating quality schools and classrooms that advance the potential of all children," says Stan Johnson, WEAC President.

The agreement makes it possible for WEAC's PDA to offer a variety of Pathwise professional development programs led by ETS-certified trainers to districts and schools statewide. These include the Pathwise Framework Observation Program and the School Leadership Workshop Series.

The Pathwise(R) Framework Observation Program helps principals and other school leaders improve their classroom observations. School leaders learn to base their evaluations on evidence and provide standards-based feedback and constructive support to teachers. The program is based on Charlotte Danielson's book, Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching. Danielson conducted research on teaching and wrote the book while a teacher-in-residence at ETS.

The School Leadership Workshop Series helps educators understand and practice the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards for School Leaders in their daily work to become more effective school leaders. The series helps school leaders learn how to identify and correct issues that adversely affect teaching and learning in their respective schools.

"ETS and WEAC share a commitment to helping teachers and school leaders grow personally and professionally," says Deloris Flint, Executive Director of Product Development for ETS's Elementary & Secondary Education Division. "Together, we can help teachers and school leaders enhance their professional practice and make even more significant contributions to improving school performance and increasing student achievement."

The Framework Observation Program and School Leadership Workshop Series are key components of a set of professional development resources under ETS's System 5(TM) suite of K-12 products and services designed to improve school performance and student achievement.
