Expert calls for collective efforts in developing pre-school education
KATHMANDU, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- There is a need of collective efforts among different components of education field to develop pre- school education for children, an educational expert said here Sunday.
"There should be collective efforts from educational policy makers, master trainers, headmaster and teachers of schools for development of preschool children," said Janette Hirschmann, a member of the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC) of Israel, told reporters.
"Pre-school education is important for the mental and intellectual development of children," Hirschmann noted.
Hirschmann is currently in Nepal to conduct master trainers training to this end, which is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Sports, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and the Israeli government.
Altogether 30 master trainers or supervisors from 25 districts are taking part in the training on what pre-school children need to develop in the best possible way. They will train district trainers, who will, in turn, impart their knowledge to teachers of preschool, primary and secondary schools. "As most of the children in the rural areas are poor, we have taught such things that do not need money to be implemented," Hirschmann said. "For example, we collected bricks, cements, woods flowers and so on, and taught the trainers how to use them best," she noted, adding, "We also taught trainers to help children how to talk and deal with others."
