MILLBRAE -- Continuing to pursue the potential sale of the old Millbrae School site on
1 Alp Way, the Millbrae School District board will look at the legal requirements.
Tom Shannon, a real-property negotiator, will meet with the board at 7 p.m. Monday. The board is not expected to take any action on the property, said Millbrae School District Superintendent Karen Philip.
Instead, they will re-cap the issue, listen to more community input and may decide when board members will vote.
"We continue to send the message that, as a school district, I think the most critical piece is the future education of children and our schools," Philip said. "We need to be pro-active and pursue alternative revenue sources. That's why it's important that we look seriously at this."
The board's District Advisory Committee came up with the recommendations to sell the surplus property and pursue other revenue-raising alternatives such as a parcel tax and an education foundation.
In three years, the district board has made about $1.8 million in budget cuts.
The school site is leased by Hoover and Peace of Mind pre- schools and Mills Montessori School. The property could be worth between $20 million and $25 million.
The meeting is at the City Council chambers at 621 Magnolia Ave.
