Posted on: Tuesday, 6 December 2005, 12:00 CST

Four college bound students from Chicago high schools will serve as guests on A Voice for America's Youth Radio Show on Monday, December 12th. As first generation college students, these young people are among more than 120 scholars supported by Scholarship Chicago in an innovative 5-year program aimed at helping underserved youth earn their college degrees. The students will speak on issues such as identifying the "best fit" college, the financial aid process, working with a mentor, leaving home and the positive role models they interact with as participants in Scholarship Chicago's College Bound program. The students are joined by the president of Scholarship Chicago, Karen Foley, who will address how Scholarship Chicago is working with businesses to provide workforce opportunities to a diverse group of talented minority students.

A Voice for America's Youth Radio Show is broadcasting on WHPK 88.5FM every other Monday from 3-4:00 PM. Gary Goldman, host of A Voice for America's Youth radio show, is a pioneer in youth and community leadership development and education reform for 25 years. He is co-author the book, Empowering Students to Transform Schools, with Dr. Jay Newman.
