Randolph School Committee members reviewed proposed budget allocations for the 2007 fiscal year and considered a reorganization of the school system's administrative responsibilities last night.
Superintendent Richard Silverman presented a list of budgetary goals to the school board, including a proposal for full-day kindergarten classes and increasing the number of Advanced Placement and honors courses offered at the high school level.
"This is not a wish list," Silverman said. "These are essential to the operation of Randolph Public Schools."
The school board will begin attaching cost estimates to each of the proposals in the coming months.
Silverman also outlined the job description for a proposed assistant superintendent for administration and finance.
Almost 20 administrators now report to Silverman and an assistant superintendent. The proposed new assistant superintendent would take on some of these responsibilities and oversee the school budget. The committee approved the job description unanimously.
The committee will also look into hiring two new security personnel in response to violent incidents involving Randolph High School students. A boy was stabbed in an altercation involving Randolph High students in November, and a female student was attacked in September.
Silverman said that the school had received reports of 125 students who people believed were attending the school without residing in Randolph. An investigation cleared 104 of the students and confirmed that four were not residents. The remaining cases are still under investigation.
