James F. Wilde was promoted to executive director of preschool programs and special projects at The Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County, more commonly known as Nassau BOCES. For eight years he served as an executive director of BOCES' Department of Instructional Programs and Alternative Schools. Prior to that, he worked in the Department of Career and Technical Education, a position he held for 25 years. But Wilde's switch from career training to coordinating preschool programs presents him with new challenges.Preschool programs have a totally different funding mechanism than other schools - they're reimbursed through the State Education Department, Wilde said
. My goal is to have the programs run effectively and cost efficiently.Wilde earned a bachelor's degree from Villanova University and a master's in Psychology from Hofstra University. He also earned a certificate of advanced study in Educational Administration while at Hofstra. Wilde is a past president of both the New York State Association of Vocational Education Administrators and the New York State Alternative Education Association. He is also a past chair of the Carle Place School District Budget Advisory Committee, past member of the Carle Place School District facilities committee and technology committee. But he still has time for more. Wilde, who lives in Westbury, is also a director on the Carle Place Civic Association executive board, chair of the finance committee in his local church and serves on several committees in the Carle Place Fire Department.Source: Long Island Business News
