Jan. 24--An alumnus of Texas State University-San Marcos has donated $1.5 million to its McCoy College of Business Administration.

T. Paul Bulmahn, the founder, chairman and president of ATP Oil and Gas Corp., earned his master of business administration degree at the school, then named Southwest Texas State University, in 1978. In 2000, he received the university's Distinguished Alumni Award.

"We are grateful to Mr. Bulmahn for this wonderful gift," said university President Denise M. Trauth. "Paul is an excellent example of an alumnus who cares deeply about our university."

In recognition of the gift, the innovative trading laboratory in McCoy Hall will be named in Bulmahn's honor. The lab has 2,500 square feet and will hold 32 computer workstations.

Bulmahn's gift will be used to support the lab, where students will learn about financial analysis, forecasting and investing. The donation also will support a new student-managed investment fund and research projects by faculty and students.
