Registration for a before-and-after school program open to children entering kindergarten opens Wednesday. Run by the Boys and Girls Club of Morris County, the fee-based program serves kindergartners in Pequannock and Lincoln Park elementary schools.
The Boys and Girls Club will pick up children attending morning kindergarten at their schools and transport them to the club for afternoon activities, which continue until 6 p.m. Students enrolled in afternoon kindergarten may be dropped at the club as early as 7:30 a.m. and will be transported to school.
Teachers on staff have college degrees and the current pupil-to- teacher ratio in the kindergarten program is 8-to-1, said interim director Kris Smith. The club owns a school bus and, "Everyone who drives it is properly licensed," she said.
Children may register for two, three or five days a week and registration will continue until spaces are filled. Parents and guardians pay monthly at rates of $80 for two days a week, $120 for three days a week and $180 for five days a week.
The Boys and Girls Club is located at 19 Oak Ave. in Pequannock. For more information, call (973) 633-9007.
