Feb. 19–Daniel H. Gallagher has been named coordinator of major gifts and development services for St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, 12th and Walnut streets. In his new position, Gallagher will be in charge of securing major gifts. He also will oversee communications and activities for benefactors and potential contributors. Gallagher of Reading was coowner and manager of Dans Restaurant, 11th and Penn streets. He is a graduate of George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Joseph N. Butto has been named regional vice president for Commerce Bank/Harrisburg. He works out of the Spring Township loan-processing center. In his new position, Butto will oversee deposit and lending operations in Berks County. A resident of Mohnton, Butto was senior vice president for Citizens Bank. Butto has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Penn State University. James M. Arentz has been named technical director for Penske Racing Shocks and Custom Axis, 150 Franklin St. In his new position, Arentz will head product design and engineering of the Penske and Custom Axis lines, along with special projects, including military business. A resident of Spring Township, Arentz was design engineer. Arentz received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Edmund Lendacki has been named director of operations for Penske Racing Shocks and Custom Axis. In his new position, Lendacki will oversee market managers, production and information exchange. A resident of Wernersville, Lendacki was inventory controller. Lendacki is a graduate of Central Catholic High School. Kenneth H. Sturtz has been named senior vice president and secretary for Burnham Holdings Inc., Lancaster. In his new position, Sturtz will oversee human resources and labor relations. A resident of Spring Township, Sturtz was vice president of human resources and industrial relations. Sturtz is a graduate of Coshocton High School, Coshocton, Ohio; received a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, Ohio; and a law degree from Akron University Law School, Ohio. Dr. Moiz M. Carim has been named chief of ophthalmology for Reading Hospital. In his new position, Carim will provide clinical leadership to 19 ophthalmologists. A resident of Wyomissing, Carim has been in private practice at Carim Eye and Retina Center, Spring Township, since 1991. He received a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and an undergraduate degree from Drexel University, both in Philadelphia. Carim completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal disease from the Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia. Dr. Andres J. Pumariega has been named chairman of psychiatry for Reading Hospital. In his new position, Pumariega will provide clinical leadership for the psychiatrists and psychologists, as well as for the behavioral health and nursing professionals. A resident of Wyomissing, Pumariega was professor and director of child and adolescent psychiatry at James H. Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn. He has served as director of the university’s Center of Excellence for Children in State Custody. Pumariega is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine, completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at a combined program at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C., and Children’s Psychiatric Institute of John Umstead Hospital, Butner, N.C. He has an undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Miami. Gene M. Venzke has been named an associate for Mogel, Speidel, Bobb and Kershner, 520 Walnut St. In his new position, Venzke will be responsible for business, municipal, real estate, wills and estate, zoning and subdivisions law. A resident of Douglassville, Venzke was a sole practitioner. Venzke received an economics degree from Villanova University and a law degree from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. Charles E. Fryer has joined Mogel, Speidel, Bobb and Kershner. In his new position, Fryer will be responsible for real estate and estate law, and is a title agent, working out of the firm’s Boyertown office. Fryer’s former title company has become Mogel, Speidel, Bobb and Kershner Title Co. A native of Boyertown, Fryer received an undergraduate degree from Ursinus College, Collegeville, and a law degree from Dickinson School of Law. Andrew S. George has been named shareholder with Mogel, Speidel, Bobb and Kershner. In his new position, George will be responsible for corporate, real estate, municipal, wills and estate, and zoning law. A resident of Reading, George will work from the Reading and Robesonia offices. George received an undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College and a law degree from Widener University School of Law, Wilmington, Del. Laverne Bowen has been named vice president for Sovereign Bank, Pottstown. In her new position, Bowen will oversee business development and community relations. She will coach and train staff, and lead sales activity for both Pottstown branches. A resident of Reading, Bowen was assistant vice president. Bowen received an associate’s degree from Reading Area Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Temple University. Wayne G. Hennemuth has been named assistant vice president for Sovereign Bank, Wyomissing. Along with his new position, Hennemuth will continue to serve as lead information-technology auditor, leading bank IT operations. A resident of Exeter Township, Hennemuth received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Westminster College, New Wilmington, Lawrence County, and a master’s degree in computer science from Robert Morris University, Moon Township, Allegheny County.
