Learning Center Closed; Students Moved
By The Akron Beacon Journal, Ohio
Mar. 10–A power outage at Akron Public Schools’ Central Learning Center — at 400 W. Market St. — prompted the district to close the building today and move students to two high schools.
The Central Learning Center is the temporary home of students from David Hill and Fairlawn elementary schools. David Hill and Fairlawn are being replaced with new buildings at their existing locations.
David Hill students were bused to Garfield High, while Fairlawn students were bused to Firestone High.
Parents wanting to pick their children up now can go to the high schools.
Students who are still at the high schools at the end of the school day will be bused home at the normal time.
Parents who normally pick their children up at 400 W. Market at the end of the school day and plan to do so today must go to the Market Street building for regular pickup. Those students will be bused back to the Market Street building.
