Columbia County Pre-K, Kindergarten Registration Dates
Prekindergarten registration dates Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2006, to participate in the lottery-funded prekindergarten program. The schedule for pre-K registration will be at the following elementary schools:

North Harlem Elementary School cafeteria, 9 a.m.
Parents must register at the elementary school for which their children are zoned to attend.
Blue Ridge Elementary, Stevens Creek Elementary and Riverside Elementary parents and guardians, please note: Pupils residing in the Blue Ridge Elementary zone will be included in the registration at Evans Elementary; pupils residing in the Stevens Creek Elementary zone will be included in the registration at River Ridge Elementary; and pupils residing in the Riverside Elementary zone will be included in the registration at Greenbrier Elementary.
Blue Ridge Elementary, Stevens Creek Elementary and Riverside Elementary children will be offered placement on an equal basis with Evans Elementary, River Ridge Elementary and Greenbrier Elementary children.
To register to attend pre-K at a particular school, the child must reside with his parents or legal guardians in that school zone. Please bring the child’s birth certificate for age verification, child’s Social Security number, and proof of residence (gas, electric, water bill showing service address).
A lottery will be held to determine those who have the opportunity to participate. A waiting list will be maintained once the slots are filled. Representatives from child care centers may be present at some schools to help place children who are not selected through the lottery in slots available at the private centers.
Registration will begin promptly at each school. Arriving 10 to 15 minutes before the designated time is advisable to allow for differences in clocks.
The doors will be closed at the designated time. Those arriving late may place their names on the waiting list. If possible, please do not bring young children because there are many forms to discuss and complete.
Kindergarten registration dates
Kindergarten registration in Columbia County is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday-March 31. Children should register at the elementary school in the designated school zones in which they reside. For exact zoning information, search the Columbia County Schools Web site (www.ccboe.net) under Our Schools or contact the superintendent’s office at 541-0650.
To be eligible for kindergarten registration, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2006.
The following information is required for registration:
A certified copy of your child’s birth certificate
Georgia Certificate of Immunization (Ga. Form 3231)
Georgia Certificate of Eye, Ear, and Dental Examination – also called “3-Point Testing” (Ga. Form 3300)* Note: Clarification of law – A current Form 3300 issued within 12 months of the date of entry is required for kindergarten.
Proof of residency (current gas, water, or electric bill)
* The required health forms may be obtained from private physicians, Fort Gordon medical personnel or the Columbia County Health Department.
(New to the Columbia County Public School System)
Children new to the Co-lumbia County Public School Sys-tem also are requested to register for grades one through five from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday-March 31. Children should register at the elementary school in the designated school zones in which they reside.
A copy of the pupil’s most recent report card or grade report should be brought to registration to ensure correct grade placement. All immunization requirements should be up to date.
Parents are urged to bring the enrolling pupil’s Social Security card to registration to be used as the child’s identification number.
