Peoples Publishing Group(R) Announces New Name and Continued Commitment to Be Partners in Student Success

Peoples Publishing Group(R) has announced that it is changing its name to Peoples Education(TM) to better reflect its services and mission. Peoples Education(TM), a subsidiary of Peoples Educational Holdings, Inc. is a publisher and marketer of print and electronic educational materials for the school market. Although the name has changed, the company will continue to provide its widely-recognized, market-leading products to educators throughout the U.S.
In 2005, Peoples Educational Holdings (NASDAQ:PEDH) reported income of $35.5 million. Its proprietary products are largely supplemental in nature, meaning that they are predominately soft-cover, high gross profit margin titles that can be sold efficiently through the company's direct sales force, as well as through catalogs, direct mail, telemarketing, and independent commission sales representatives. It also distributes products that are both basal and supplemental texts for the Advanced Placement(TM) market.
Peoples Education(TM) has grown rapidly since its founding in 1990 by former teachers Jim Peoples and Diane Miller. Today, more than 5.4 million students in 12 states use Peoples' "Measuring Up" program, which includes print and Web-based instructional and assessment materials designed to improve student achievement test scores on statewide assessments.
In announcing the name change, CEO Brian Beckwith commented that "Peoples Education(TM) is a major player in the education market. We know education.
