Park Hill Foundation Scholarships School Notes

May 31--Park Hill Foundation recently awarded scholarships to students from the district's two high schools.

From Park Hill High School -- Jason D. Brewer won the $2,000 Zona Rosa Scholarship. Dustin A. Nickel won the $1,000 Park University/Kendra L. Samer won the $1,000 North Kansas City Hospital Endowed Scholarship. Steven E. McKee won the $1,000 Darren Floyd Memorial Scholarship. Gentry A. Maher won the $1,000 Darren Floyd Memorial Scholarship. Gentry A. Maher won the $1,000 American Family Insurance Endowed Scholarship. Anna C. McLaughlin won the $1,000 William & June Porter Endowed Scholarship from Thoroughbred Ford. Chelsea N. Tibbets won the $1,000 Russell G. Jones, Sr. & Fern Jones Endowed Scholarship.

From Park Hill South High School -- Lindsey C. Latteman won the $2,000 Zona Rosa/Abuelo's Scholarship. Erin R. Hefta won the $1,000 William P. Bucker Endowed Music Scholarship. Brant G. Bishop won the $1,000 Park Hill National Education Association Endowed Scholarship for Future Educators. Tyson M. Frost won the $1,000 St. Luke's Northland Hospital Endowed Scholarship. Katie E. Ehlers won the $1,000 Robert, Lorena, & Roger Burns Endowed Scholarship. Amy L. Moerer won the $1,000 Ethel & William Poteet Endowed Scholarship. Laura E. Green won the $1,000 William & Elvarea Fickle Endowed Scholarship.

Park Hill High School

Top 10 Business Award: Park Hill senior Brennan Huffer recently placed fourth, earning him a "Top 10" award, in the Business Services Marketing competition at DECA's International Career Development Conference, in Dallas, Texas. He competed against 13,000 of his peers in the high school division.

Huffer won $100 cash for his ability to his ability to display good communication, time management and problem-resolution skills from DECA, a non-profit organization with a focus on careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. He was honored May 10 during the 10th annual Excellence in Marketing Education reception at the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City.

Platte County R-3 High School

Gallery show: Jessica Simorte and Sharon Stark have photographs in a show at the Society of Contemporary Photography in Kansas City. The show runs from May 13 through May 27 and is located at 520 Avenida Cesar E Chavez.

Westminster College

Stephanie Couch of Platte City, Mo., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Couch, graduated from Westminster College in a Fulton, Mo. May 6 commencement exercises held on campus in Champ Auditorium.

Couch earned a Management Information Systems degree in Business Administration.

Missouri Academy's 'Voyager'

The Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing will hold commencement exercises at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 27, in the Performing Arts Center on the Northwest campus.

Mark Andrew Baumgartner of Kansas City of the Park Hill school district and Alexander Neil Blevin of Weatherby Lake, Mo., of the Park Hill school district will graduate among the 47 members of this year's class.

They each will receive a high school diploma and an associate of science degree during the ceremony.

The Missouri Academy is an accelerated, residential school for students gifted in mathematics and the sciences.

Park Hill Foundation recently awarded scholarships to students at the district's two high schools.
