May 24--Friends can say farewell to Lake City Elementary School on May 31.
A celebration of the school will take place 4:30-6:30 p.m. Current and former students, neighbors, past teachers and the public are invited. Visitors can tour the school, watch student entertainment, enjoy refreshments and listen to speakers share thoughts about the school.
The district will close Lake City after this school year due to declining enrollment and the building's aging condition. Lake City youngsters will move to Lake Louise Elementary School starting next fall.
But Lake City will have at least one more year of school life. Lakeview Elementary School students and staff will temporarily move to Lake City starting next fall while Lakeview is rebuilt.
