Peace College Offers Teaching Program

Jun. 6–RALEIGH — Peace College announced a new program Monday to train prospective teachers to work with elementary and special education students.

Students who complete the program, which was developed in partnership with the Wake County school system, will be licensed to teach elementary school students as well as special education students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Organizers say the training program will help with the teacher shortage and is the only one of its kind in the state.

The state Board of Education authorized the program in May. It begins this fall, although some students are already taking courses at Peace.
