Jun. 8--HIGH POINT -- Mark Norcross, president of the Mark David furniture company, and his wife Rena have committed $2 million to High Point University, according to university officials. The unrestricted gift will be used to enhance HPU Graduate School facilities.
"We love what's happening at High Point's University and want to be a part of it," said Mark Norcross. "We believe HPU is of utmost importance to the vitality of our city's future."
A renovated graduate school building is part of a $100 million campus upgrade. Mark Norcross is a member of the HPU Board of Trustees, the Qubein Foundation board, the United Way's Alexis d'Tocqueville Society and the Maryfield senior center board of directors.
"We are so grateful to Mark and Rena for their support and friendship," said HPU President Nido Qubein. "Mark's vision has led him to great achievements in the professional realm and epitomizes what we strive to accomplish at High Point University."
The graduate school, with Alberta Herron as dean, has bestowed degrees on more than 530 students. The school offers five graduate programs, including master's degrees in business administration, public administration, science in sport studies, education in elementary education and education in educational leadership.
The school is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
