Proposed UK Budget Includes 12 Percent Tuition Increase
By The Lexington Herald-Leader, Ky.
Jun. 13–A $1.8 billion budget that relies on student tuition increases is expected to win approval this afternoon from the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.
The board is to meet at 1 p.m. today in the Patterson Office Tower on campus.
The new spending plan includes a 12 percent increase in tuition.
The budget would provide 3.5 percent faculty and staff salary increases based on performance. A 1.5 percent “catch-up” raise for faculty, probably based on merit, also would be available after Jan. 1.
About $750 million in the spending plan will go to capital projects.
