Most Manatee Schools Earn Passing Grades on No Child Left Behind

Posted on: Wednesday, 14 June 2006, 18:00 CDT

By Michael Barber, The Bradenton Herald, Fla.

Jun. 14--Although many Manatee County schools earned passing scores from the Florida Department of Education today, they struggled on the federal No Child Left Behind results.

Only six of 52 schools received a yes to the critical question, "did the school make adequate yearly progress?"

However, 27 schools earned a provisional yes, including many that earned an A from the state.

Eighteen schools received a "no" on the adequate yearly progress question.

One school received an incomplete.

Schools that received the coveted yes grades included Anna Maria Elementary, Braden River Elementary, Gene Witt Elementary, McNeal Elementary, Palma Sola Elementary and Willis Elementary.
