Jun. 15--Paul Szuch now has the official nod as Lamar Institute of Technology's new leader.
The Texas State University System Board of Regents Wednesday voted Szuch in as the institute's next president, system Chancellor Charles Matthews said in a statement.
Szuch takes over July 1; Robert D. Krienke retired May 31 after serving in the position since 1994.
In a telephone interview last month, Szuch said his goals were to maintain accessibility to and the affordability of the school.
During that call, he said he had accepted the position at LIT.
But under state law the board of regents had to wait 21 days before taking the final vote on his appointment.
He has served as the assistant dean of instruction/provost at each of Pasco-Hernando Community College's three campuses, and now is the vice president of instruction/provost at Pasco Hernando Community College (West Campus) in New Port Richey, according to information provided by LIT.
Also, he has served as chief academic officer and chief student services officer in the Pasco-Hernando group.
He holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Nova Southeastern University.
