NEW YORK, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Princeton Review -- known for its college rankings based on how students rate their schools -- tomorrow releases the 2007 editions of its annual law and b-school guidebooks which also feature ranking lists uniquely based on student surveys. "Best 170 Law Schools" and "Best 282 Business Schools" (Random House / Princeton Review, $22.95) each have 11 ranking lists of top 10 schools in categories from academics to career prospects. The Princeton Review compiled the lists based on its surveys of 17,000 students attending the 170 law schools and 18,000 students attending the 282 business schools in the books, and on school-reported data.
Among the ranking lists in each book is "Best Academic Experience" on which Stanford Univ. is #1 in the law school guide. The University of Pennsylvania is #1 in the b-school guide. For "Best Career Prospects," Northwestern Univ. is # the 1 law school. Stanford Univ. is the #1 b-school. For "Best Professors," Washington and Lee Univ. is the #1 law school. Indiana Univ.-Bloomington is the #1 b-school. For "Toughest to Get Into" (the only ranking based solely on school data), Yale Univ. is #1 in the law school guide. Harvard Univ. is #1 in the b-school guide.
Other lists in "Best 170 Law Schools" and #1 schools on them are: "Most Welcoming of Older Students" -- Univ. of Maine, "Most Competitive Students" -- Baylor Univ., and "Best Quality of Life" -- Univ. of St. Thomas.
Other lists in "Best 282 Business Schools" and #1 schools on them are: "Greatest Opportunity for Women" -- Babson College, "Most Family Friendly" -- Brigham Young Univ., and "Best Campus Facilities" - Stetson Univ.
The Princeton Review has posted the rankings lists of top 10 schools in the 11 categories in each book at http://www.princetonreview.com/. Among them are lists of schools with the most diverse faculties, greatest opportunities for minority students, and most conservative / most liberal student bodies.
The ranking lists are based on surveys of students during the 2005-06, 2004-05 or 2003-04 academic years. Most were conducted online at The Princeton Review's student survey site: http://survey.review.com/. The 80-question survey asks students about their school's academics, student body and campus life and about themselves and their career plans. No ranking list is based on The Princeton Review's opinion of the schools, nor do the books have one hierarchical ranking list of all schools profiled.
The books' school profiles cover academics, admission, financial aid, campus life and career/employment information. Front sections have advice on applications and funding the degrees. Back sections have additional school (data only) listings and some "School Says" profiles written by the schools for which they paid a fee to have included in the books.
The Princeton Review, headquartered in New York, is known for its test-prep courses, education programs, college and graduate school admission services, and 200 books published by Random House. Among them are "Best 168 Medical Schools" and guides for graduate school admission exams and application essays. The Princeton Review is not affiliated with Princeton University.
