The Catholic High School Honor Roll is an independent project of the Acton Institute, an international research and educational organization based in Michigan, that reviews the performance of the nation's private Catholic schools.
The group names the top 50 overall Catholic high schools, and ranks another top 25 Catholic high schools in three categories: academics, Catholic identity and civic education, according to the Catholic Honor Roll Web site.
Mount de Sales, a private school in Macon, was ranked as a top 25 school for civic education, meaning the school merges Catholic teachings with present-day governmental and social issues.
"It is essential that we find ways to prepare students for responsible citizenship," said Mount de Sales President Kathleen Prebble. "Our desire is to embrace civic engagement and social justice."
