2,000-Plus Speak Up About Schools Plan
By The News & Observer, Raleigh, N.C.
Jan. 3–RALEIGH — Wake County school administrators received more than 2,000 comments to their draft student reassignment plan before the end of the public comment period on Tuesday.
Since the proposal was released Dec. 8, the district received 1,364 online comments. Administrators also received 668 e-mail messages and 43 telephone calls.
Administrators say they’ll review the comments before presenting a revised plan to the school board Tuesday. The draft plan called for moving 10,788 students to different schools this fall to help fill new schools, relieve crowding at existing schools and promote socioeconomic diversity.
