Teachers Earn Certification
By Serena Lei, The Bellingham Herald, Wash.
Jan. 9–Ten Bellingham School District teachers earned National Board certification this year, doubling the number of boardcertified teachers in the district.
To earn the national credential, teachers must complete a portfolio of work that documents classroom success and must pass rigorous tests about subject matter and classroom situations.
The teachers are Paul Clement at Bellingham High; Kelly Glynn at Larrabee Elementary; Robert Knickrehm at Whatcom Middle; Natalie Johnson at Squalicum High; Ashley Griffith, Maria Martin and Lenore Wilson at Shuksan Middle; and Mark Kerr, Sonya Morrison and Steven Ruthford at Sehome High.
