Two Hidalgo County Schools Featured in National Academic Report

Feb. 6–MCALLEN — Two Hidalgo County schools are featured in the Advanced Placement Report to the Nation 2007 that the College Board released today in Washington, D.C.
The annual report offers insight to how states are faring in offering and having students pass AP courses.
Oratory Athenaeum for University Preparation in Pharr is highlighted for the largest number of students in grades 10 to 12 to score a 3 or above on the AP Spanish Language examination in the 2005-06 academic year. The school, which was in the small-school division, also had the largest number of students in the three grades score a 3 or higher on the AP Spanish Literature test.
La Joya High School is featured for the second consecutive year in the AP Spanish Language category, with the largest number of Hispanic students scoring a 3 or above on the class examination in the 2005-06 school year.
