A school in Wales has won pounds 1,000 to spend on Oxford University Press books. When the headteacher of the Hollies School in Cardiff nominated teaching assistant Nicola Gamble for The Teaching Awards 2007, the school was automatically entered into a prize draw for the money.

Christine Matthews, headteacher, said, ‘Nicola is an outstanding teaching assistant whose enthusiasm and commitment to all very special pupils in our school deserves recognition.’ Anyone can nominate a headteacher, teacher, teaching assistant or governor for any of the 12 categories. The closing date for nominations for the Teaching Awards 2007 is March 1.
