How to Help a Struggling Young Learner
By Anonymous
As early as age 3 or 4, a child may show signs that she or he is struggling to learn. Often these concerns resolve themselves. But for some kids, this may be a precursor of a learning disability.
The National Center for Learning Disabilities and the National Association for the Education of Young Children are two of the leading groups that teamed up to produce a new research-based program called Recognition and Response. The goal is to help parents and teachers respond to signs of learning difficulty in the preschool years.
It’s available online at www. rocognitionandresponse. org. The website has free resources, easy-to-read articles, check lists and fact sheets with action-oriented information.
