Leon Johnstone (left), of New Plymouth Boys’ High School, goes past Lyneche Simkin, of Highlands Intermediate, during the combined primary, intermediate and secondary schools yachting championships at Port Taranaki yesterday. Johnstone, in his yacht Touch of Glass, won the Shell Todd Oil Services secondary schools starling title, while Simkin won the intermediate title in her optimist Lightning. The secondary schools 420s was won by Gye Simkin and Nathan McArthur, of New Plymouth Boys’ High School, with the secondary schools optimist division won by Jordelle Simkin, of New Plymouth Girls’ High School.
