Columbine High School in Colorado, site of the nation’s deadliest school shooting, was evacuated Thursday because of bomb threats.

Police said several threats were received shortly after 9 a.m. Jefferson County School District officials told KUSA-TV, Denver they decided to move students to a nearby elementary school as a precaution.

No signs of a bomb or explosive device was found, but police said they planned to continue sweeping for bombs through the day.

After getting Columbine students to Leawood Elementary School, school officials decided to shut down Columbine for the rest of the day.

The school became internationally notorious in 1999 when Dylan Harris and Eric Klebold killed 12 students and a teacher and then turned their guns on themselves.
