It Was Her First Taste of Teaching Abroad
LINDSAY joined the Nova Language School on October 25 last year after graduating from Leeds University with a science degree.
In deciding to teach English in Japan she was following a path which many new graduates choose as a first taste of working abroad, before returning home to a more settled career.
She was teaching at the Koiwa school in Tokyo, where she was popular.
Nova says that once the rookie teachers have had time to settle into their apartment they start work, with training in the initial days provided by them. The firm also provides a follow-up programme of support, advice and additional sessions to enhanceprofessional development.
Nova’s teachers are housed in semi-furnished apartments usually shared by two or three other teachers.
Recruits like Lindsay would start on a salary of between pounds 950 to pounds 1,040 a month.
In a statement released by The Nova Language School in London it said: "She took her job seriously and put every effort into it. She was trying to get used to Japan.
"We are very sorry that this has happened."
