Apr. 3–CHAPEL HILL — Thomas James, dean of UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Education, was named Monday as provost of Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.

James, who will also have the titles of dean and vice president for academic affairs at Teachers College, has been at UNC-CH for four years. UNC-CH Provost Bernadette Gray-Little called James a dynamic leader who reinvigorated the education school.
