Port of Los Angeles High School is now accepting applications for ninth-graders for the fall 2007 school year.

The deadline is May 11.

Port of Los Angeles High School is a small public charter high school that fuses a college preparatory curriculum with elective coursework in maritime studies and international trade. It is located at 250 W. Fifth St. in San Pedro.

BARTON HILL ELEMENTARY

Beautification project is scheduled for Sunday

Barton Hill Elementary School invites the community to help beautify the school from 9 a.m.-noon Sunday.

A mural will be painted and flowers will be planted in front of the school.

CRESTWOOD STREET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Enrollment discussion to be held Thursday

Crestwood Street Elementary School will host an orientation Thursday for parents considering enrolling their children at the school’s kindergarten.

The orientation will discuss the kindergarten curriculum, district requirements, vaccinations and behavioral expectations for the children.

The orientation will begin at 6 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, 1946 W. Crestwood St., Rancho Palos Verdes. For more information, call the school at 310-832-8130.
