PNC, GE Executives To Address Tepper School of Business Graduates

PITTSBURGH, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Students graduating from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business will hear from chief executives of two global corporations at this year's diploma ceremonies. James E. Rohr, chairman and chief executive officer of The PNC Financial Services Group, will deliver the keynote address to Tepper School graduate students, and Yoshiaki Fujimori, president and chief executive officer of GE Consumer Finance, Asia, will address undergraduate business students.

The graduate ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland for 182 master of business administration students, 22 master of science in computational finance students, one master of science in quantitative economics student and 14 doctoral students. The undergraduate ceremony will also take place at Soldiers and Sailors at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 20, for 101 business and 35 economics majors.

As chairman and chief executive officer of The PNC Financial Services Group, James Rohr leads one of the of largest diversified financial services companies in the United States. During his 35-year career with PNC, he has served as vice chairman, director, president, chief operating officer, and now chairman and chief executive officer. Among many other accomplishments, he has played a central role in fueling the company's move from a regional bank to a financial powerhouse, including the 1995 acquisition of BlackRock Financial Management.
In addition to his corporate leadership, Rohr is active with a number of civic, cultural and educational organizations in the Pittsburgh area, including the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America. A strong supporter of Carnegie Mellon and the Tepper School, he is a member of the Tepper School's Board of Business Advisors and a lifetime trustee of Carnegie Mellon. In recognition of his civic efforts, Rohr received the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship in 1996. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a MBA from The Ohio State University.
A leading corporate figure in Asia, Yoshiaki Fujimori joined GE in 1986 as manager for business development. In 1988, he moved to GE Medical Systems, where he held general manager and global manager positions in several key segments. His 19-year career with GE has included positions at the company's global headquarters in Milwaukee, where he has served as president and chief executive officer for GE Medical Systems - Asia, president and chief executive officer of GE Plastics, and president and chief executive officer of GE Asia Pacific.
Prior to his tenure with GE, Fujimori worked on petroleum and natural gas projects in the Middle East and Southeast Asia for Nissho Iwai Corporation, a major Japanese trading firm. He earned a master's degree from the Tepper School in 1981 and a bachelor's degree from the University of Tokyo. Fujimori is a Carnegie Mellon trustee.
