Young Actors Get Ready for Bard Festival
TALENTED young actors from schools in Warwickshire will be treading the boards for a festival celebrating Shakespeare’s works.
Following the success of last year’s Mini Complete Works Festival, the schools will again team up with Warwickshire County Council and the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
Nineteen primary and secondary schools from across the county will take part in Warwickshire’s Children and Young People in the Dell at The Dell Theatre in Stratford in July.
The theme for this year’s festival is entrapment and power, chosen to coincide with the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade.
Primary schools will explore the theme through A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth. Secondary schools will study Othello and Richard III.
St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School and Telford Infant School in Leamington and St John’s Primary School in Kenilworth are among schools taking part.
The festival will be based in schools in Warwickshire before performances at The Dell outdoor theatre in Stratford from July 11 to July 13.
