Olympia

Stefanie M. Simonson has been named to the dean’s academic honor list at Baylor University, Waco, Texas, for the spring 2007 semester.

Graduates

Lacey

Michele Rockwell received a bachelor degree from Oregon State University, Corvallis.

Olympia

Shawna Austin received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, Seattle. She is a 2001 graduate of Olympia High School and is the daughter of Jerry and Mary Austin of Olympia.

The following students received bachelor degrees from Oregon State University, Corvallis: Corina M. Hayes, Justin R. Huxford, Kathleen M. Niemann, Tristan B. Rees, Lesley A. Szramek and Jennifer L. Wing.

Honors

Olympia

Abbey Jorstad has been recognized for outstanding work in her junior writing portfolio for the fall 2006 semester at Washington State University, Pullman.

Kate O’Looney has been recognized for outstanding service in the SPURS (Service, Patriotism, Understanding, Responsibility and Sacrifice) honor society and for her placement in the Pi Mu Epsilon national honor society at Linfield College, McMinnville, Ore.

The following students have been honored for their outstanding verbal and/or mathematical abilities through the Washington Search for Young Scholars at the University of Washington, Seattle: Kirsten Allen, grade 8, Reeves Middle School; Sumukh Bharadwaj, grade 6, NOVA School; Vamsi Chunduru, grade 8, Marshall Middle School; Sampath Duddu, grade 5, Hansen Elementary School; Nancy Miles, grade 8, NOVA School; Grace Miles, grade 5; Devon Parman, grade 6, NOVA School; Jill Aneri Shah, grade 5, Roosevelt Elementary School; Brandon Sharp, grade 8, Marshall Middle School; Carly Stinson, grade 5, Lacey Elementary; and Alexander Tinley, grade 6, Beit L’Midah.

Shelton

The following student has been honored for outstanding verbal and/or mathematical abilities through the Washington Search for Young Scholars at the University of Washington, Seattle: Lee Shouse, grade 5, Evergreen Elementary School.

Scholarships

Lacey

Levi Coulter has been awarded a $250 Thurston County Youth Scholarship. He is a 2007 graduate of Timberline High School and is the son of Bill and Holly Coulter.

The following students have been named recipients of the Lacey Mid-day Lions Student of the Month scholarship for the 2006/2007 school year: Scott Lavalla and Ellen Macomson, North Thurston High School; Courtney Hills and Kassi Rodgers, River Ridge High School; Marla Olayan and TJ Su’a, South Sound High School; Mitchell Tallon and Kristen Suver, Timberline High School.

Olympia

Blake Elerding has been awarded a $350 Thurston County Youth Scholarship. He is a 2007 graduate of Olympia High School and is the son of Laura Elerding of Olympia.

Rachel Pattin has been named a recipient of the Young Women in Public Affairs award scholarship by the Olympia Zonta Club. She is a 2007 graduate of Capital High School.

Joe Putscher has been awarded a $300 Thurston County Youth Scholarship. He is a 2007 graduate of Olympia High School and is the son of Larry and Cyndy Putscher of Olympia.

Meera Shanti has been awarded an American Field Service 2007 Youth Ambassadors Arabic Summer Language Scholarship to study in Egypt. She is a student at Olympia High School.

The following students have been awarded company scholarships from Ballet Northwest: Lena Curl, Capital High School; Eryn Edwards, Olympia High School; and Kiara Howe, South Puget Sound Community College.

Tumwater

Nathan Belles has been awarded a $600 Thurston County Youth Scholarship and a $1,000 scholarship from the Washington State USBC Association. He is a 2007 graduate of Tumwater High School and is the son of David and Marcy Belles of Tumwater.
