The Columbia County school system intends to make changes to Horizons, its elementary-school gifted program, for the 2008-09 school year.

By Akilah Johnson and Jamie Malernee, South Florida Sun-Sentinel Jun. 10--Each grade level in Broward County -- and the state -- saw their reading and math FCAT scores rise Tuesday. Except fifth-graders. They stumbled. In some cases, like at Rock Island Elementary School, quite a bit.

On June 7, 2008 the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) voted to grant re-accreditation to The Taft University System until 2013.
