By Sarah Cassidy A STATE school has recorded the best A-level results in the country, beating hundreds of prestigious private schools which charge fees of up to 27,000 a year.

By LAURA DALE Expectations were exceeded in many South Devon schools with pupils smashing previous exam result records. GCSE results were released yesterday, hot on the heels of last week's A level results. Students filled school halls, canteens and hallways anxiously clutching their exam results.

The overall five A* to C pass rate for GCSEs in Lincolnshire has increased by more than six per cent this year to an outstanding 72 per cent against a national increase of 2.4 per cent. Five schools gained 100 per cent 5 A* to C.
