TV to Show “Confessions” of Iranian-American Nationals
Iranian News Network TV, IRINN, at 0929 gmt on 16 July, aired a trailer for a current affairs documentary programme entitled: “In the name of democracy” during which interviews will be shown with three Iranian-American nationals who were recently arrested in Iran.
The trailer showed snippets of Haleh Esfandiari, Kian Tajbakhsh and Ramin Jahanbaglu introducing themselves and talking about their “connections with political foundations in America”. Haleh Esfandiari said her role was “to identify speakers” in Iran. Kian Tajbakhsh spoke about the activities of the Soros foundation. Haleh Esfandiari also spoke about the velvet revolution in Georgia. Kian Tajbakhsh spoke of attempts to “create division” within the Iranian society. Haleh Esfandiari said such activities were to be carried out “in the name of dialogue, empowering women and democracy”.
A caption said that the programme, possibly in two parts, will be broadcast at 1815 gmt on 18th and 19th July.
