INSIDE TV & RADIO; Whoopi Goldberg to Replace O’Donnell As Liberal Voice on ‘The View’
By TIM CUPRISIN
It’s official: Whoopi Goldberg will take the moderator’s chair on ABC’s “The View,” replacing the abruptly departed Rosie O’Donnell.
The 51-year-old comic turned talker – she’ll continue with her nationally syndicated morning radio show – will formally join the show on Sept. 4.
Goldberg will clearly change the tone set by the abrasive O’Donnell, who fought battles with everybody from Donald Trump to co- panelist Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
While her liberal politics won’t be that much different from O’Donnell’s, she’s likely to handle her political disagreements with the conservative Hasselbeck and others with a bit more grace.
“Today is the day we have been waiting for,” Barbara Walters said as she introduced Goldberg on Tuesday morning’s edition of the 10- year-old morning show where everything from fashion to politics is up for discussion.
“The hot topics thrill me,” Goldberg told viewers.
The chair vacant since the departure of Star Jones Reynolds last year is yet to be filled, and there was no word from ABC on when that would happen.
The speculation continues to center on comic Sherri Shepherd, who has appeared in the big-screen “Barbershop” and on a number of TV sitcoms, like CBS’ “Everybody Loves Raymond” and ABC’s “Less Than Perfect.”
CHANNEL SURFING: Jim Peck’s 1995 “I Remember Milwaukee” interview with the late Tom Snyder will repeat at 6 p.m. Monday on Channel 10. The show was taped on the set of Snyder’s final late-night show on CBS.

MORE RADIO HELP: All the changes on Milwaukee’s radio dial this year continue to bring questions about how to find radio listings.
Radio program listings, in the same sense as TV listings, haven’t existed for years. Individual stations may post schedules at their Web sites, but there’s no central repository for those schedules.
You can always find the list of Milwaukee-area stations and their formats at jsonline.com/links/radio.
You can also find Milwaukee radio station Web sites by going to Inside TV & Radio’s blog – blogs.jsonline.com/cuprisin – and checking the links on the right side of the page.
