Cable Operators in Pakistan District Stop Transmission Following Threats- Paper

Mingora: Cable operators in Swat stopped transmissions on Thursday [13 September] for an indefinite period after receiving threatening letters, sources said. “We have been receiving threatening letters for quite some time, and law and order is very bad in the area,” Muhammad Hayat Chaman, a cable operator, told Daily Times. Hayat said if closure of cable TV could bring the Islamic system, the cable operators would fully cooperate with clerics. He said there were four cable operators in the area and all of them had stopped operating.
