Rah!Rah! Who’s going to make the squad? Find out when “Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team 2″ premieres at 7 p.m. Friday on CMT, cable channel 64. The eight-episode series follows the women who try out for the team and who survive boot camp — and the scrutiny of director Kelly Finglass, choreographer Judy Trammell and former drill sergeant and boot camp commander Jay Johnson.

Viewers will find out who can really sing — or not — on the next episode of Fox’s “Nashville,” airing at 8 p.m. Friday on channel 23 and cable channel 5. Three wannabes form a trio and try out for a talent scout at Tootsie’s.

Nia Vardalos’ funny and charming “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” is guaranteed to put a smile on almost everyone’s face. Based on her own one-woman show, “Wedding” follows a girl from a devoutly Greek family who falls in love with — gasp! — a non- Greek (John Corbett). It airs at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday on ABC Family, cable channel 37.

With most series still in reruns, Friday is probably a better movie night.

TNT has Tom Hanks in “Forrest Gump” at 7 p.m. on cable channel 29. Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise play an autistic man and his con man brother in “Rain Man” at 9 p.m. on TV Land, cable channel 62, and the inimitable Anthony Quinn is “Zorba the Greek” at 7 p.m. on TCM, cable channel 210.

Leave it to Diane Keaton to make you want to laugh and cry at the same time in “Something’s Gotta Give” at 8 p.m. Friday on TBS, cable channel 47.

Allison’s world is thrown for a loop when her “powers” are revealed on a repeat of “Medium,” at 9 p.m. Saturday on NBC, channel 2 and cable channel 9. The series is scheduled to return at midseason.

With Ken Burns’ documentary “The War” series starting Sunday on PBS, TNT will get you in the mood with a rebroadcast of Stephen Spielberg’s stunning “Saving Private Ryan” at 7 p.m. Saturday on cable channel cable channel 29. Tom Hanks plays the squad leader whose job is to find a paratrooper (Matt Damon) whose mother has already lost three sons in World War II.

Nicole Kidman and Oscar winner Renee Zellweger star in Anthony Minghella’s beautiful “Cold Mountain,” airing at 7 p.m. Saturday on Bravo, cable channel 46. Jude Law plays the wounded Confederate soldier trying to make his way back to his sweetheart (Kidman) during the Civil War.

Don’t think “kids only” when you hear the title “Holes.” This delightful film focuses on a boy (Shia LeBeouf) who is accused of pilfering tennis shoes and sent to a detention camp where the inmates do nothing but dig holes in the desert. You have to watch the film to find out why. In addition to LeBeouf, the great cast includes Jon Voight, Sigourney Weaver and Tulsa’s own Tim Blake Nelson. It airs at 8 pm. Saturday on Disney, cable channel 32.

D.L. Hughley is, well, “Unapologetic” (and too funny) in his standup comedy special premiering at 9 p.m. Saturday on HBO, cable channel 300.

Jake Gyllenhaal is your host with musical guests the Shins in a repeat of “Saturday Night Live” at 10:29 p.m. on NBC, channel 2 and cable channel 9.

Ken Burns’ new epic “The War” debuts at 7 p.m. Sunday on PBS, channel 11 and it’s a doozie. Don’t let the 14-plus hours scare you away. It begins with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, America’s entry into the war and how the conflict changed everyday life in the United States. It continues at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday this week and over the next two weeks.

Homer hires a life coach on the 19th season premiere of “The Simpsons” at 7 p.m. Sunday on Fox, channel 23 and cable channel 5.

The CW wants to make sure you catch the season-opener of “Gossip Girl,” so it is repeating the pilot at 7 p.m. Sunday on channel 19 and cable channel 12. Blake Lively (“Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”) stars in this rich teen angst drama.

The family of “Family Guy” takes off into “Star Wars” on its season premiere at 8 p.m. Sunday on Fox, channel 23 and cable channel 5.

The music of Nirvana and a triple homicide open the season for “Cold Case” at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS, channel 6.

“Shark” starts its season at 9 p.m. Sunday with a bomb killing the sole witness to a double homicide. It airs on CBS, channel 6.
