Fenton Commits to Create Visual Map of Clinton Global Initiative’s Women and Girls Portfolio
NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — In time for this week’s Clinton Global Initiative’s (CGI) Annual Meeting and as part of CGI’s formal process, Fenton has committed to develop a visual representation of the investments, public/private/non-profit partnerships and unmet needs in CGI’s women and girls portfolio.
“One of the three topics of this year’s annual meeting is Girls and Women: Scaling What Works. It is our hope that through the visual map, current and potential new members and other partners will be able to better envision a pathway for scaling impact in the lives of women and girls worldwide,” said Lisa Witter, Fenton’s chief strategy officer.
Witter, the co-anchor of the Clinton Global Initiative’s Investing in Girls and Women at Home and Abroad Action Network, will be moderating a panel during this week’s CGI meeting.
The Action Network has met throughout 2011 to bring together business, government, and civil society to increase girls’ and women’s economic empowerment around the world. The network has worked to support existing commitments within the CGI portfolio focused on girls’ and women’s empowerment as well as to catalyze action through new partnerships. It is co-chaired by Farah Mohamed, president of The Belinda Stronach Foundation.
The Investing in Girls and Women session will highlight the Action Network’s “commitment” portfolio, with discussions geared to fill current commitment gaps in areas including the environment, urban development, health, entrepreneurship, economic development, and corporate supply chains.
Fenton and Lisa Witter have a long-standing record working to empower women and girls. Several current or former clients will be in attendance at CGI including Women for Women International, The Elders, Save the Children, and Half the Sky, a global transmedia initiative inspired by the bestselling book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.
Witter leads the women and international practices for Fenton and is co-author with Lisa Chen of The She Spot: Why Women are the Market for Changing the World and How to Reach Them. She is a co-founder of the award-winning SheSource.org and was honored as an outstanding activist and expert on women’s issues by Oxygen.com in 2000. In 2010, she was named one of 197 Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum.
