43rd Annual Thoth Awards Ceremony Honors Best Communications Campaigns in Washington

Media and PR Professionals Gather for Annual Awards Gala to Celebrate Achievements of Area Communicators

WASHINGTON, Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Public Relations Society of America National Capital Chapter (PRSA-NCC) celebrated the value of public relations and honored the talent and innovation in Washington public relations professionals at its 43rd annual Thoth Awards, held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Special guest presenters Scott Montgomery, editor of Roll Call, and Bill Novelli, co-founder of Porter/Novelli and honorary director of KidSave, were in attendance with National Capital Chapter leadership and nearly 190 guests. During the gala, 27 Thoth Awards and 16 Certificates of Excellence were presented to regional communications stars. The awards program included 27 categories, and recipients included a wide array of Washington area public relations agencies, companies, government organization, and trade and professional associations.

“We received many great nominations for the Thoth Awards this year,” said Brigitte Johnson, APR, PRSA-NCC 2011 President. “This year’s winners implemented innovative communications strategies and demonstrated the true value of public relations by achieving impressive and accountable results. As part of the gala, PRSA-NCC hosted a charity auction to support KidSave, a nonprofit organization that gives kids who are hidden from public view in foster care and orphanages the opportunity to visit with families and build lifelong relationships.

The Thoth “Best of Show” award was presented to The Walmart Foundation for its campaign with Brand Resources Group, “Walmart Fighting Hunger Together Holiday Giving Campaign (2010)”.
