Jointwave Makes Breakthrough in European Market
FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Jointwave LLC has accomplished a major design-win in Sweden, capitalizing on the strong demand for its products in Europe.
The company, which is based in the United States, is a leading industry supplier of the H.264 codec IP core for FPGA and ASIC. Jointwave will now license its core to the customer in Sweden for a variety of avionics applications.
“We are pleased to announce this design-win, which is the result of our IP cores becoming so mature over the years in the marketplace,” said Paul Qiu, CEO of Jointwave. “The H.264 IP core is very easy to use, and we also offer a great deal of support to users after licensing to make sure that it is a solution that works for them.”
Despite recent financial uncertainty in some European countries, Jointwave has seen strong demand for its products across the continent. The company has received a number of inquiries into its video codec IP cores from the European market in recent months.
To help its potential customers evaluate H.264 solutions, Jointwave provides bit-accurate C model, benchmark data and a demo version of the IP, as well as a self-contained evaluation kit with FPGA boards, media player and supporting software.
“While our on-site support service is always there, most of our customers have finished their projects without even using the service,” Qiu said. “Time and again, our customers are immediately convinced that our core is right for them after we ship them the demo and evaluation kit.”
In the past, Jointwave’s H.264 codec IP cores have been widely deployed in high-end professional applications, including the medical, aerospace and broadcasting industries in North America and Japan. The company makes direct sales in North America and supports customers in Japan through its distributors and partners.
Jointwave LLC focuses on video technologies and codec IP designs for both FPGA and ASIC. The company’s high-performance H.264 codec provides broadcast-level video quality while consuming extremely low power and hardware resources, which expands video applications to areas previously considered impossible or cost-prohibitive. Jointwave provides comprehensive consultations and technical services to help customers evaluate and implement a complete H.264 solution. For more information, visit www.jointwave-tech.com.
